An Update from the (Brand New!) Kitchen Floor

10 weeks ...

70 investors ...

1000 and one interviews ...

and a whopping €200,000!

We couldn’t be more proud of the results of our crowdfunding campaign.

It’s been a hectic few weeks, but we hope to keep you regularly updated about our progress and developments as we build out our new kitchen. We expect construction to be completed late this summer, and are looking forward to inviting you to visit the new space and celebrate this new phase of our exciting journey together.

Besides our current shared kitchen, we’re developing new kitchen units right around the corner at Nieuwe Hemweg 14A , B and C, where growing food businesses can successfully scale up their operations. We’ve been working on this plan for more than a year (these things take a LOT of time!) and it’s already extremely gratifying just to have the new floor installed.

Just because we’re deep in business and construction planning, we still make time to learn and get inspired from other pioneers shaping the food landscape, one kitchen at a time.

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to spend four intense days in San Francisco visiting   the extraordinary KitchenTown. We met with founder Rusty Schwartz, who’s developed a giant production kitchen built for scale-up food businesses. His epic space includes not only culinary and production workspaces, but also large warehouses and even a café. It was also helpful to get a fresh perspective that gave us lots of new ideas for how we can set new standards and benchmarks at Kitchen Republic. And of course, we managed to sneak in some inspirational eating, too...we especially love checking out the Tartine Manufactory in the Mission and popping by Bini’s Nepalese Kitchen for snacks.

Now, it’s nice to be back in Amsterdam, with full heads and hearts, ready to roll up our sleeves and get back to work!
