Recap: Our 2019 Food Startup Market and Academy Final Pitch Day

Whew! What happened?! Somehow a whole month has already passed since we hosted our massively successful Food Startup Market. We’ve been busy as ever at Kitchen Republic, hustling to launch our crowdfunding campaign (more about that later!) This was our second annual Market event, and this year we took it to another level by combining it with the grand finale of our very first Startup Academy.

After completing an intensive 3-month program, twelve food startups boldly stepped up on stage to pitch their big ideas to an impressive audience of 70 local food industry leaders and influencers, including our partners Marqt, Rabobank Amsterdam and Food Inspiration. Hosted by Food Inspiration’s Maaike de Reuver, the Final Pitch was an exhilarating end to our Academy, and we couldn’t be more proud of each of the participants who are now looking ahead to building their food businesses.

Following the Pitch session, we cranked up the music, opened the bar, and invited more than 400 visitors into the Kitchen, including a great mix of buyers, marketeers, journalists, suppliers, wholesalers, foodlovers, and of course friends and family. Kitchen Republic’s 40 member startups set up a vibrant and diverse market, offering tasty bites and samples of the diverse products made in our kitchen. We also officially debuted our campaign on CrowdAboutNow, with the aim of helping us expand our offering and build out second kitchen space so we can continue to grow our food startup community.

Our goal in planning this event was to create more business opportunities for our Academy and member startups, and we can say with confidence that we exceeded expectations! So much can happen in a year, but we’ve already got the next Startup Market session on the books for January 30, 2020 and are about to launch the second round of the Academy. Watch this space, because we’ve always got something cooking!

PS: A special shoutout of thanks to Levens Cooking and Baking Systems for supporting this year’s Food Startup Market.
